PADI Open Water Diver.
(Jr. Open Water Diver and PADI Open Water Referal Course).
The PADI Open Water Diver training course is designed to be totally modular and work around your availability and lifestyle. Any part of the Open Water Course can be done with any PADI facility worldwide……
The PADI Open Water Course is made up of 2 parts: -
Part 1- Theroy & Pool Dives (also known as a Open Water Referal).
The theory part of the course is an on-line course undertaken via the PADI eLearning portal, it consists of 6 sections plus an on-line exam. You can work at your own speed (PADI estimate between 5 and 10hrs), putting it down and picking it back up when you have free time. It's then Into the comfort of our heated swimming pool where you will undertake a swimming assessment and 5 mini dives. During these dives you will learn all the skill you need to become a safe & confident diver. The swimming pool sessions are typically completed in one evening, normally a Saturday between 18:00 – 20:45hrs.
Part 2- Open Water Dives.
This time its 4 dives held over 2 days; all you have to do is to demonstrate back to the instructor the skills you already mastered in the swimming pool.
Whats included in the course?
Both Part 1 and Part 2 of our course includes:-
Equipment rental (everything you need).
Pool entry fees.
PADI eLearning materials.
Free Logbook worth £19
Free Mask and Snorkel worth £68.94.
PADI Certification fees.
In fact the only thing that isn't included is transport to the dive sites and any entry fees.
·All candidates joining the PADI Open Water course have to answer some simple medical screening questions just to make sure there are no pre-existing conditions that may put you at risk. Don’t worry about this in over 10 years of training Dave has only meet 2 people who have been excluded from diving the normal worst case is that you have to get a Doctor’s Signature to confirm that your condition is under control and managed. ·Aged over 10 years of age (10-14 take the junior course see tab below). ·Be able to swim 200m without touching the bottom using any stroke with no time limit. ·Float in water too deep to stand in for 10 minutes.
The PADI Junior Open Water course is exactly the same as the standard Open Water course, in that juniors do the same online eLearning and perform the same skills during training the only difference is that on completion they have different limits imposed on them till their 14th birthday.
Junior PADI Open Water Divers are limited to 12m not 18m and must either dive with a parent / legal guardian or a current PADI professional.
Please contact us on 01243 202200 prior to booking as we are only allowed 2 Junior divers per an instructor and we need to make sure we are able to accommodate your child on the course.
Because the PADI Open Water Course is modular you chose to do part one of the course with one dive centre then continue and do part two with another dive centre this is called an Open Water referral.
Although it’s an acceptable and can be very convenient if you are going somewhere nice on holiday it will always be more expensive due to the additional paperwork and checks that have to be undertaken by both dive centres to keep you safe during the process, so it’s well worth checking prices before you commit to an Open Water referral course.
Still not sure if diving is for you?
Why not do one of the following;-
Zoom meeting or call us.
If you are considering learning to dive why not sign up for a FREE on-line orientation with one of our team. During an informal Zoom call we can discuss how we can make your dream come true. You can discuss anything with one of our PADI Professionals for instance the course structure & requirements, health concerns, accessibility questions (physical / mental), how the junior course works, additional support, private courses or how our easy payment terms work….
WE ARE HERE TO HELP…….. remember the only silly question is the one you don’t ask.
If you are not ready to commit just yet or are worried it may not be for you why not sign up for a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience. It gives us the chance to introduce you to the equipment, the underwater environment and some of the skills from the full PADI Open Water Course.
If you wanted we could also combine this with a free sample of the Open Water eLearning course so that you get a full overview of the courses a whole.

Why not buy both Part 1 and Part 2 together and save £25.
If you buy both parts of the PADI Open Water Course together it works out £25 cheaper, but don't worry you still have the flexibility to move to any Part 2 dives available on our website, or even wait till you see dates that fit later in the year.
