About Cyprus
Imagine a Mediterranean island bathed in warm, clear blue water. Long, sandy beaches punctuate the predominantly indented and rocky coastline, and the culture and cuisine are unmistakably Mediterranean. This is Cyprus, and it’s nestled in the northeast corner of the Eastern Mediterranean Sea.
Cyprus offer’s easy access from Gatwick and Luton with direct flight times of less than 5 hours.
Cyprus offers one of the best climates in the Mediterranean, on average Cyprus has over 330 days of sunshine per year with November daytime temperatures of around 18 deg and a water temperature of around 20 deg.
Why Dive in Cyprus?
- Crystal-clear comfortable water temperatures throughout the year (in November we should be looking at 17 to 21 deg).
- The waters around Cyprus are not particularly tidal, currents tend to be mild and water movement minimal making Cyprus an ideal destination for all levels of divers.
- Dive sites consist of both shore and Boat dives. Many sites are suitable for both Jr & Adult Open Water divers with plenty of advanced options for the more experienced.
- Diving in Cyprus is often referred to as the ‘Jewel of the Mediterranean’ Diving in Cyprus is truly unique and unlike any other destination in Europe.
- To top it all off Cyprus even has the Zenobia one of the top 5 wrecks in the world. This wreck is truly breathe taking and is guaranteed to make you smile
- Out of the water in November we are looking at daytime temperatures between 18 & 22 deg, although overnight it can drop to around 10 deg so remember to pack some warm clothes for the evening.

This shallow dive site reaching 10 meters depth will not disappoint even experienced divers, its landscape is diverse with interesting rock formations, sculptures, fields of sea grass ending in sand flats.
Divers interested in history will surely appreciate the sight of old pottery shells scattered around the dive site, mostly integrated into the rocks.
However, the greatest highlight of Green Bay is definitely presence of Turtles. You can see them even while snorkelling or swimming, but there’s nothing as memorable as seeing them up-close calmly munching their sea grass during a dive.

To the left if you swim with the rocks on our left side and sandy bottom on our right side and circle the bay you will eventually arrive at the far end and will see the big field of thick sea grass – that’s where Cuttlefish like to lay eggs , you can find theses hidden in the grass and the parent Cuttlefish swimming around on guard.
However if you go out towards opening of the bay you will find a rocky area where you will see the submerged statues of a Mermaid, dwarf, lion, etc. This is also where turtles like to hide, if they aren’t found in shallower parts of the bay.
On the way back keep an eye out for big a big school of young barracudas, they like to swim around the bay, but you mostly see them in the shallower parts along with young squid and/or large schools of young fish swimming right under the surface.

The Nemesis is one of the best artificial wrecks in Europe! She was a decommissioned fishing trawler purposely sunk in 2012.
She lies on the sea floor in a perfectly upright position at a depth of 24m. It could not have been better for photography as well as wreck penetration. The vessel was properly prepared for sinking – hatches, doors and the engine room had all been cleaned but is completely intact and has most of its original features.
Swimming through Nemesis is reasonably safe although the PADI Wreck Diver Speciality is recommended and this will be available at a massive discount during the trip (call 01243 202200 for more info).

THE ZENOBIA - Suitable for Advanced Open Water 22-45m
The Zenobia wreck is a world-renowned wreck and is rated as one of the top 5!
This breath-taking wreck sunk on 7th June 1980 on her maiden voyage at around 02:30, due to repeating computer malfunctions that controlled the ballast system on board this monstrous ship.
She now lies on her port side on the seabed in 42m of water, just 1500 meters from Laranca Harbour
Whether you are a seasoned wreck diver or not exploring this epic wreck for the first time will be sure to leave you wanting more!
There is a large chain from a surface marker buoy down to the Zenobia this can be used to make a slow controlled decent whilst equlising and adjusting your buoyancy you are then ready for an amazing dive on the Zenobia Wreck.
Things to do and see include massive propeller, loading doors, swimming around suspended trucks, the enormous anchor and check life boats, if wreck qualified you can swim through the bridge and even dive through the cafeteria.
This will be the highlight of our trip and there is truly something for everyone, as the top of the wreck is just within the Open Water qualification. You will be put into a group that reflects your qualification and your activity may be limited as a result.
This wreck has been consistently ranked as one of the top recreational dive sites worldwide. As the top of the Zenobia wreck sits at 18m the minimum PADI dive Qualification is PADI Advanced Open Water. Diving outside of the wreck within this qualification provides plenty to see with 105 vehicles, (104 articulated lorries + the captain’s blue Skoda), at depths from 25m to 35m. However, to be able gain full advantage of this world-renowned wreck we would recommend the PADI Wreck Diver and PADI Deep Diver Speciality qualification’s.
All courses will be available at a reduced rate during (or prior to the trip in the case of Advanced Open Water for confirmed participating Divers) the trip. See “Upgrades” below for pricing.
